The popular mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, is running for re-election for the mayoralty of Tías. For the new legislature, he presents a team that consolidates the current members of his government group with the new additions, in starting positions, of young university students who were born abroad and have been residing in Lanzarote for some time.
Tías is a municipality that has 72 different nationalities, and where nearly 50 percent of the resident population was born outside of Spain, mainly in countries of the European Union. Pancho Hernández, together with the members of the Partido Popular Committee in Tías, wanted these community citizens to have a more active and direct presence in the Municipal Corporation of Tías. Thus, Pancho Hernández's candidacy is the only one that includes foreign citizens on its list who are very involved in the society of Tías and Lanzarote.
Among these new additions that accompany the current mayor of Tías, the young lawyer, secretary of the Association of Young Lawyers of Lanzarote, Olivier Roper, stands out, who reinforces the candidacy of the Popular Party in a position to enter the Municipal Corporation with number 8. Roper was born in Florida, has English nationality, and in addition to being a lawyer, has higher education in International Commerce. He has resided in Lanzarote since he was very young when his parents (Scottish and Belgian) moved to Puerto del Carmen to have their new residence.
Also Pancho Hernández, in addition to maintaining the councilors of his current government group with whom he has managed to clean up the City Council, lower taxes and launch the largest Municipal Investment Plan, consolidates the list with young university students in Tourism, such as Antonio González Fernández, bilingual, or the physiotherapist Amaya Barr, who speaks several languages, and has English and Norwegian nationality.
Along with these outstanding professionals, Pancho Hernández is accompanied by the young entrepreneur Rayco Mesa Morín, Juan Fernando Hernández Hernández, Genma Melián Rodríguez, María Azucena Rodríguez Rodríguez and the young Daniel Cañada Tribaldo, who works in the largest aquaculture company in Lanzarote.
Along with these incorporations, Pancho Hernández is reinforced by his current government group with the lawyer Saray Rodríguez Arrocha, the graduate in Business Administration and Management and manager of an important winery, Ramón Melián Hernández, the architect of the economic recovery of the municipal accounts, the graduates in Social Work Aroa Pérez and Marketing and Business, Nerea Santana Alonso. Kiko Aparicio, current councilor for Cleaning, Festivals and Sports, continues in the candidacy together with Antonio Betancort Ramos, current councilor for Roads and Works, and Yolanda García, who currently holds the councilorships of Environment, Beaches, Parks, Fishing, Housing and Heritage.
The current PP councilor in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María del Cristo Acosta Armas, joins the municipal candidacy of Tías for the Popular Party. This Thursday, the 23rd, the new PP candidacy will be presented at an event in El Fondeadero.
