The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has approved the provisional granting of subsidies for the improvement of transport and mobility in Lanzarote and La Graciosa, within the framework of the call published on February 26, 2025 in the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas.
In this first provisional resolution, 29 subsidies have been granted for the acquisition of efficient vehicles and 2 for vehicles adapted for people with reduced mobility (PRM) intended for the discretionary passenger transport service (taxi), within the framework of Lines 1 and 2 of the call. The total provisional amount amounts to 93,000 euros, distributed in 6,000 euros for Line 1 (PRM) and 87,000 euros for Line 2 (efficient vehicles).
These subsidies are aimed at holders of VT transport authorizations (taxis) granted by the Cabildo and the corresponding licenses from the town councils, in accordance with the provisions of the regulatory bases approved and published in the BOP of Las Palmas on February 2, 2024.
“From the Cabildo we continue to move towards more sustainable, accessible and efficient mobility. With these aids we promote a more modern taxi fleet, more respectful of the environment and adapted to the needs of all citizens, especially those with reduced mobility”, said the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort.
For his part, the island councilor for Transport, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, highlighted the Cabildo's commitment to professionals in the sector. “These subsidies are a key tool to support taxi drivers in the renovation of their vehicles and to improve the quality of the service provided to both the resident population and those who visit us”, explained Jiménez.
The procedure for granting these aids is carried out under the non-competitive concurrence regime, and applicants have a period of 10 business days from the publication in the notice board of the electronic headquarters of the Cabildo and on the institutional website to accept the subsidy or present allegations.
