The Ministry of Economy, Industry, Trade and Self-Employed of the Government of the Canary Islands, through Proexca, has launched a new edition of the Canarias Aporta program for actions or projects of internationalization of Canary small and medium-sized enterprises from the non-capital islands.
The call for applications, published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) on Tuesday, January 27, has a budget of 400,000 euros, which will be distributed according to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of each island: Lanzarote 152,000 euros; Fuerteventura 120,000 euros; La Palma: 64,000 euros; El Hierro and La Gomera 32,000 euros each
The Vice President of the Canary Islands Government and Minister of Economy, Industry, Trade, and Self-Employed, Manuel Domínguez, emphasized that "the Government's commitment to the internationalization of SMEs and the self-employed is clear" and highlighted that with this new call for applications, "all SMEs that wish to internationalize their businesses both in third countries and in the Peninsula will be able to receive technical or marketing advice to grow from the Canary Islands to the world".
Companies have one month to submit their application for the grant, which will be aimed at internationalization projects for small and medium-sized enterprises from the non-capital islands (Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera, and El Hierro), either to facilitate entry into foreign markets or to consolidate their presence in them.
The subsidy amount per project will be calculated by setting the percentage at 75% of the subsidized costs. The remaining 25% must be provided by the company. For the 2026 call, the maximum amount of eligible expenditure per project will be 6,000 euros, with the subsidy amount being 75% of the eligible expenditure, i.e., 4,500 euros, with the company's contribution being the remaining 25%, which is 1,500 euros.
The minimum amount per project will be 3,000 euros, with the subsidy amount being 75% of the eligible expense, that is, **2,250 euros**. The company's contribution will be the remaining 25%, 750 eurosIn 2025, a total of 134 projects benefited from the Canarias Aporta call for non-capital islands, with an amount of 594,554.13 euros. This budget was increased by 194,545.13 euros due to the large number of applications submitted. Compared to the 2024 call, beneficiary projects increased by 42%.Last year, €262,716.63 was awarded for 60 SME internationalization projects in Lanzarote. In Fuerteventura, 43 projects received €193,500; La Palma, a total of 23 projects for €102,337.50; La Gomera, 5 beneficiary projects for €22,500; and El Hierro, 3 projects for €13,500
