THE CONSISTORY ALLOCATES A BUDGET UNTIL THE END OF THE YEAR

Emerlan re-establishes surveillance on the beaches of Costa Teguise and Famara

The Teguise City Council "has sought" an economic item to cover surveillance until the end of the year. Had Emerlan abandoned surveillance due to a debt with the Consortium?

The NGO Emerlan has re-established its surveillance service on the beaches of Costa Teguise and Famara, after reaching an agreement with the Teguise City Council. The Councilor for Beaches, Eugenio Robayna, has explained that the comptroller and the emergency technician have sought an economic item to cover surveillance until December 31 of this year.

On October 23, the councilor confirmed on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero that Emerlan's guards had abandoned the surveillance of these beaches, although he assured that even if there were no lifeguards, the municipality was still under surveillance since Emerlan "had received a subsidy to cover Teguise emergencies."

Although this agreement with Emerlan has not yet been signed, since the councilor is waiting for the mayor, Oswaldo Betancort, to be able to sign it, the guards returned to the beaches last Thursday. "From the Local Police and from the tourism sector they told us that they were bursting with tourists for the November 1st bridge. I spoke with the president of Emerlan and he sent the guards," Robayna explained.

Terms and conditions for emergencies in Teguise

On the other hand, the Councilor for Beaches has insisted that the terms and conditions to cover emergencies in the municipality of Teguise are "very advanced", and also in La Graciosa. "We have to solve the issue of La Graciosa, which is one more island to cover. The mayor is trying to reach agreements for this matter," Robayna pointed out.

And it is that La Graciosa does not need "a couple of lifeguards", but a doctor, an ambulance and other emergency services.
