The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, has shared with the Board of Spokespersons of the First Island Institution the content and conclusions of the latest meetings held with public administrations and economic and social agents aimed at designing a common strategy against the pandemic generated by covid-19.

"The island is facing one of the biggest crises in its history. An unprecedented crisis with unpredictable economic consequences in which there are only many uncertainties. The only certainty we have is that in order to face it with guarantees of success we are going to need political unity and social cohesion," Corujo said after the meeting.

In the meeting, the president conveyed to the spokespersons the measures that are being implemented on the island in coordination with the agents of the State Security forces and announced an increase in inspections in public spaces and a tightening of sanctions for those who do not respect the rules dictated by the health authorities to stop the spread of the virus among the population. She also reported that "exhaustive controls are being carried out on the capacity of places considered strategic and some beaches on the island to avoid crowds."

In addition, Corujo has once again appealed to the responsibility of citizens to make "correct use of the mask, maintain social distance and correct and constant hand hygiene to limit the spread of the virus."
