This Saturday, María Dolores Corujo and Manuel Fajardo Palarea, have reaffirmed their "commitment" to multiculturalism, reports the Socialist Party.

Both have attended the Plaza de las Naciones in Puerto del Carmen, where the 'IV International Festival of the Original Peoples of the World' has taken place. This multicultural meeting has brought together groups from more than fourteen countries residing in Lanzarote, an event that has taken place throughout the day.

During her attendance, Corujo stated that: "There is no wall that can stop those who have nothing to lose, so, faced with this inevitable reality, the Socialist Party continues to bet on control measures, but also on integration, favoring coexistence and preventing marginalization."

The head of the PSOE list to the Congress of Deputies for the province of Las Palmas considers that: "Contrary to what hate speeches indicate, a large part of the dynamism and strength of our economy is due to the contribution of those who have decided to share their lives with us.”

"Building the best Spain means favoring the incorporation of migrants into the labor market"

In his opinion, "building the best Spain means favoring the incorporation of migrants into the labor market, so we are going to continue with these policies because properly managing migratory phenomena makes Spain move forward."

For his part, Manuel Fajardo Palarea stated that: "A better Spain is built by implementing all the integration measures that make all those groups that come from other countries, and that are fundamental for the economic and social development of our country, also feel at home, which is how we want them to feel, with respect for their rights."

"Implement all the integration measures that make these groups feel at home, which is how we want them to feel"

The island shelters people of more than 120 nationalities

For the PSOE, the 'International Festival of the Original Peoples of the World' is an "opportunity to get closer to a part of the immense cultural wealth treasured by those citizens who have arrived on the island in recent times, having the opportunity to show us the best of their gastronomy, music, folklore and crafts", adds the party.

This event celebrates cultural diversity, promotes social integration and seeks to establish cooperation ties between migrant communities and the Canarian community. Therefore, it is an "opportunity to know, value and respect the different cultures", geographies and histories present in today's society and, in addition, contributes to "building an environment of fair and enriching coexistence for all", he makes clear.

The event has been promoted by the Federation of Migrants of Lanzarote (Fedemilanz) and has had the collaboration of the City Council of Tías. The island shelters people of more than 120 different nationalities who contribute work, culture and wealth to the economic and social development of Lanzarote, concludes the PSOE.
