Public Works will carry out the construction of the Puerto del Carmen Diving Center, in Playa Chica, in the municipality of Tías. The action has an investment of 751,184 euros and is part of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Lanzarote of 2021.
The Councilor of the Area and vice president of the Institution, Jacobo Medina, explains that these works will provide the infrastructure to carry out underwater activities in a "calm and safe" manner. He also details that "it will be possible to prevent, correct and compensate for the negative effects caused on the environment."
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, indicates that this project aims to recover the continuity of the promenade of Avenida del Varadero and the coastal landscape, "responding to a demand from the population."
The purpose of the action is to organize the aquatic activities that take place in the area, since it is usual for boats, jet skis, divers and bathers to use the pier to load equipment, among others.
In this line, the work also contemplates a regulation for the prevention of collisions, buoys for boats, buoys, and a floating loading and unloading dock for divers. In addition, the action must allow access to emergency services.
