The municipal group of Coalición Canaria will present the proposal in the next plenary session of the corporation, which will be held in June. The land in the industrial area that the Consistory wants to start selling is that corresponding to action unit nº 9, with a bidding budget of 2,662,740 euros.
The nationalists recall that "they have always supported the development of the Playa Honda Industrial Zone as an economic engine of the municipality".
In the last legislature, the government group promoted the division of the almost one million square meters of said industrial zone into 12 action units and three S.A.U. (Land Suitable for Urbanization). According to the Canary Islands Land Planning Law, the City Council is entitled, by mandatory and free transfer, to between 60,000 and 80,000 square meters. Of this amount, Marcial Martín, the mayor of San Bartolomé, explained on Radio Lanzarote that he wants to sell between 15% and 20%, to "meet the needs of the residents".
Coalición Canaria affirms that "this public heritage should serve both for general use or public service in the same area and to obtain land or create public infrastructures in other parts of the municipality". For this reason, they will promote in the next municipal plenary session the creation of a Special Information Commission of the Industrial Zone or, failing that, the convocation of the Information Commission of Urban Planning, Housing and the Environment, as well as the meeting of the Citizen Participation Councils of the municipality.
The purpose is none other than to "reach a consensus between the government group, the opposition parties, neighborhood groups and citizens, to what endowment needs will be allocated 3,900 m2 of action unit nº 9, as well as the rest of the square meters of the other units and S.A.U."
