Citizens demands "agility" from Teguise to re-award the garbage collection tender

Citizens (Cs) has demanded that the Teguise City Council "convene the evaluation table as soon as possible to be able to evaluate the business offers that were presented in 2013" to the tender for the garbage collection and cleaning service in order to "speed up the process and re-award this service".

This was stated by the spokesperson for the Cs group in Teguise, Antonio Becerra, who explained that "the courts have annulled the current award because the city council applied conditions that were not in the specifications but were proposed by some of the awarding companies". "In other words, the Council committed irregularities by including these clauses, such as the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which were outside the initial conditions," he said.

"The mayor, Oswaldo Betancort (CC), has once again demonstrated his incompetence when it comes to awarding public contracts, and, what is worse, he dared to appeal a ruling that evidenced the fault committed by the local corporation," denounced the spokesperson for the Cs group in Teguise.

"It is regrettable that the residents of Teguise have to pay for the occurrences of a mayor who, out of pride, insisted on appealing a sentence that was lost in advance," Becerra criticized.
