A report prepared by the Canarian Coalition of Lanzarote warns that "it is necessary to provide educational infrastructure to all municipalities of the Island." Thus, the construction of five new Secondary Education Institutes and two new Primary Education schools would be necessary. The report was debated during the meeting of the Standing Committee of the party, held on the night of Tuesday, April 22, where issues related to the political and social reality of Lanzarote were analyzed.
According to a press release issued by CC, "in the municipality of Arrecife two actions are necessary: the replacement of the La Destila School and the construction of two new institutes, one in Maneje and the other in the Vía Medular area." In the case of Haría, it is necessary to build an institute to replace the current one, while "in Guatiza it seems necessary to build a new center to replace the Guenia School. In Teguise, its current institute must be expanded and a new one built, as in Playa Blanca, in addition to the construction of a new school in San Bartolomé."
Precisely, the note adds, the municipalities of San Bartolomé and Yaiza have requested the suspension of their planning, "something that usually occurs due to the scarcity of land for construction, one of the great problems that Lanzarote has."
In addition to the provision of infrastructure, the document observes the deficiencies in services, such as dining rooms and school transport, among others. "The construction of these infrastructures would solve the educational needs and problems of teaching infrastructures for 20 years," he says.
CIE and Cabildo budgets
The press release also reports on the rejection by the members of the CC Permanent Committee of the construction, in Tahíche, of the Foreigners Internment Center (CIE), "just as it already showed its reservations about its construction in the Güime area, in the municipality of San Bartolomé."
Regarding the budgets of the Cabildo de Lanzarote for 2008, the nationalists believe that the PSOE and the PIL "are trying to sell smoke to the citizens of the Island, assuring that the Government is to blame for everything. It must be that the Government is also to blame for raising their salaries, adding more than one million euros to the personnel chapter."
