Coalición Canaria will compete in the general elections on July 23 with its acronym but will work until the last moment in a "nationalist alliance", this formation reports once the deadline for the presentation of electoral alliances has concluded and without agreement with Nueva Canarias.
In a statement, CC acknowledges the efforts of both political forces to bring positions closer and states that "they do not throw in the towel" and are working on an alliance led by Coalición Canaria that allows to unite a nationalist front and announces that it has already begun to hold conversations around a common program of 50 points to defend in the Courts.
It states that "Canarias is at stake" on July 23, points out that the Canarians will not elect the next President of the Government but the deputies and senators who will have to defend Canarias in the Congress and the Senate "in the most uncertain stage of Spanish democracy; the deputies and senators who will have to defend every day in Madrid that Canarias is complied with”.
In the opinion of this formation, the “unity” is the best formula to face the challenges that Canarias faces, a union that “allows us to believe in a stronger Canarias and with the highest level of self-government, in equal conditions and powers; a unity that allows us to consolidate our historical rights recognized in the Statute of Autonomy and in the REF and conquer new advances”, the statement adds.
It defines "red lines" as the defense of the Canarian jurisdiction, the rejection of some General State Budgets that do not comply with Canarias and that do not guarantee that the investment in the islands is the average of the State, or the claim of the transfer of coasts in the terms that the Statute of Autonomy approved in 2018 includes.
In the same way, the nationalists highlight the need to take advantage of Spain's presidency in the EU to reinforce the role of the outermost regions together with Portugal and France.
The presence of Canarias in the new framework of relations with Morocco in matters such as the negotiation of the delimitation of waters and the control of migratory movements is another of the fifty points that the nationalists defend.
The commitment to La Palma is another of the irrenounceable points for Coalición Canaria that aspires not only to comply with all the commitments for the reconstruction and recovery of the islands but also to extend to ten years the bonus of 60% of the IRPF that, it adds, the Canarian nationalists managed to incorporate in the General State Budgets.
The employment policies or those linked to education and professional training, the sustainability of the public pension system, the financing included in the REF for the fight against poverty, the defense of public health or the rejection of any attempt to back down or dismantle the policies and laws against Gender Violence, together with specific measures to end the gender gap, family reconciliation policies or the fight against LGTBIfobia are also proposals defended by the Canarian nationalists, are other of the points defended by CC.
In the note, CC advocates defending the ground conquered with the great cinematographic productions, as well as, the commitment to a real economic diversification without forgetting the tourist sector or especially vulnerable sectors such as the industrial or the primary one that must increase its weight in the Canarian economy, it adds.
