Pedro Calero, Coalición Canaria's bet for the Tías City Council, was officially presented on Wednesday afternoon by the top leaders of the Canarian nationalists on the island. Among those present were the president of the Cabildo, Inés Rojas, the Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Fajardo Feo, and the mayor of Haría and possible president of CC after the May elections, José Torres Stinga, among others.

Also supporting the candidacy was the councilor of Tías, Juan Cruz, who highlighted among the lines of work of the group so far, the control of the socialist government in the municipality, which after 25 years, "already has to leave", he declared before the attendees. And he affirms that, due to the course of recent events, "the PSOE is tired of the City Council".

The candidate, Pedro Calero, was nervous given his recent incorporation into the group, and began by explaining the reasons that led him to take this step: "I am Canarian, I love this land and I chose CC because it is the organization that is most like the Canary Islands." Calero is committed to a nationalist government in Tías "that does not allow its policy to be directed from Madrid."

For Calero, "the Cabildo of Tenerife is a great example to follow" and he proposed creating more nurseries and institutes, in addition to showing the intention of his candidacy to create "a Telegraphic Space Plan" that regulates and controls the possible repercussions of the waves emitted by mobile phone antennas. Among his projects, he also highlighted the creation of a municipal sports board, in addition to the construction of sports courts throughout the municipality of Tías.

In relation to the management of the Tías City Council, Juan Cruz complained about the lack of initiative in infrastructure. "The only thing they have done has been to build the town hall," he said, adding that the most fruitful initiatives had been proposed by Coalición Canaria. "The construction of the Health Center and the remodeling of Puerto del Carmen have all been projects proposed by us."

Although the president of CC in Lanzarote, Mario Pérez, could not attend the event, José Torres Stinga did take the floor, who did not skimp on reproaches regarding national politics on issues such as dialogue with ETA.

In relation to the Canarian Statute, the president in pectore of CC highlighted "the regrettable attitude of the Socialist Party" for considering that "they had arrived in Madrid and had knelt before the guidelines of the party" in a statute that "is not the statute that Coalición Canaria wants, but that we have supported because less is nothing." "We Canarians have the right to establish our immigration policies and we are not even consulted by the central government."
