Coalición Canaria in Haría has urged the mayor of the town, Evelia García, of the Platform of the Municipality of Haría (PMH), to immediately convene the municipal plenary "for the definitive ratification of the budget."
The nationalists recall that, provisionally, the budget was approved last May, during the mandate of Coalición Canaria at the head of the City Council with Chaxiraxi Niz and Víctor Robayna.
“The urgency of the nationalist demand to the government group is due to the fact that the deadline for justifying the subsidies of social and cultural entities closes on September 30, since for sports schools the deadline expires on December 31, so we cannot wait for the current government group to show signs of life because the paralysis of management is costing money to the municipality and its citizens”, says the councilor of CC, Chaxiraxi Niz.
CC recalls that under its mandate it managed to carry out "the provisional approval of a budget of 8.5 million euros". On this, the local secretary of Haría and acting mayor during Niz's maternity leave, Víctor Robayna, has described it as "the highest that Haría has approved and that will mark a before and after in the history of the municipality."
In summary, from CC they point out that the aforementioned municipal accounts meant "increasing the budget by one million euros compared to previous years, going from the extended 7.3 million in the last year, to 8.5 million for the present, especially highlighting the investment chapter that goes from 80,000 to 600,000 euros."
“This is a budget with a strong social character”
Coalición Canaria also points out that the municipal budget for 2022 also represents "a firm social commitment with ambitious employment plans, the increase in aid to the most disadvantaged families in the municipality, and to youth, since it establishes the increase in the chapter of aid and scholarships for study and transport."
In addition, the nationalists add that the budgets are "a relief for the economic situation of numerous associations and groups, which are the social engine of the municipality and are in a critical state." Likewise, CC points out that these accounts were made "without neglecting the priority attention to sustainable mobility, alternative energies, and basic day-to-day services such as cleaning and lighting."
“It is also a budget with a strong social character and the first after the pandemic, since we came from an extended budget and this represents a leap in the aspirations of Haría”, says Víctor Robayna.
Likewise, the nationalists add that together with the draft municipal budgets, the Strategic Plan for Subsidies was approved, both nominated and those aimed at social, cultural and sports groups. "Now they are in danger since they cannot be justified if they have not even received them", explained Chaxiraxi Niz, for whom the importance of approving this budget now is "to alleviate the financial situation of the entities to which a subsidy has been granted and that at this point of the year have not charged to alleviate their situation."
“It is inconceivable that a budget that we had left prepared and provisionally approved has not yet been approved, demonstrating the commitment of Coalición Canaria to the well-being of citizens, and that this government group has not been able to take it to its final approval when it is a mere administrative procedure”, concludes the former mayor, Chaxiraxi Niz.
