CC denounces that Corujo has "broken her own record", by completing three months without convening the Plenary of the Cabildo

"The president lacks the minimum transparency by ordering the cancellation of the plenary sessions without justification, violating the regulations and the agreement that obliges her to be accountable at least once a month," the nationalists state.

The Nationalist Group (CC-PNC) in the Cabildo has denounced the "unprecedented situation" that it claims is being experienced in the Island Corporation, which has already spent three months without holding ordinary plenary sessions. "María Dolores Corujo has broken her own record", question the nationalists, who affirm that the president "has suppressed the democratic debate, as the main obligation of her agenda, and forgotten her commitment to the inhabitants of Lanzarote and La Graciosa."

We do not find a similar event in the entire Canary archipelago, where the highest responsible of an institution refuses to appear before the plenary, and therefore the citizens, and maintains this situation for three months without giving a formal explanation”, stated Councilor Óscar Pérez.

"On October 17, María Dolores Corujo completed 90 days without allowing the control of her government actions, de facto turning the Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa into an institution where transparency is conspicuous by its absence", they insist.

“It seems incredible that we have to request month after month that the regulations be complied with. Transparency is a fundamental pillar of democracy and a duty that the president seems to have stopped assuming. We ask you to cease these practices and return the public debate to the institution”, demands the CC councilor.

In addition, she affirms that Corujo has become "the public figure who has most often breached the agreement and the regulation that obliges her to convene an ordinary plenary session on the last Friday of each month (she has only done so in 4 of the 32 sessions held under her mandate) and accumulate up to 5 plenary sessions awaiting convocation, between ordinary sessions and those corresponding to the debate on the state of the island, of which she has not convened any, when we are already entering the final stretch of her third year of mandate."

"María Dolores Corujo could hide behind her multiple occupations as president and deputy of the Canarian Parliament, but the truth is that she stands out precisely for being the parliamentarian with the least activity in the entire archipelago, neglecting both obligations", add the nationalists, who consider that the situation is “undignified, intolerable and totally removed from transparency and fair play”.
