Coalition Canaria and the Popular Party have sealed a government pact for the Cabildo and the Arrecife city council. This was announced by the secretary of the nationalists in Lanzarote, Migdalia Machín, and the president of the PP, Ástrid Pérez, at a press conference held at the Gran Hotel de Arrecife. "It is born from the honesty and dialogue that will prevail in our government pact", said Ástrid Pérez.
In this way, the elected president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort (CC), will have the support of the four PP councilors and Astrid Pérez (PP) will continue as mayor of Arrecife. Precisely with respect to some rumors that circulated about the possible departure from the town hall of the current mayor, Pérez has declared to La Voz that "on June 17 I am running for mayor of Arrecife, and then you never know, it always happens, as president of the Popular Party of Lanzarote and La Graciosa I will always be at the disposal of the Popular Party of Spain and the Canary Islands as is my obligation, therefore, wherever the party tells me I will be there, but it is true that on Saturday, June 17, I am running for mayor of Arrecife".
Pérez also pointed out that with regard to the councilorships and council seats "it is going to be a dynamic pact, and that the party is not going to be an impediment in relation to the profiles of the areas".
With respect to the City Council of Teguise, Migdalia Machín explained that the popular councilors will add their three votes to the seven of CC, and to the agreement will be added another of the councilors of the municipality whose identity they did not confirm "out of respect" since he was not present, but with whom they claimed to have a practically closed agreement, thus achieving an absolute majority.
