The Cabildo of Lanzarote and the Canarian Institute of Equality, dependent on the Ministry of Social Rights of the Government of the Canary Islands, have reached an agreement to modify the cooperation agreement between both institutions, increasing by 84,085.87 euros the item destined to the attention of victims of gender violence on the island.

In this way, for the consolidation and maintenance of the social system of prevention and integral protection of victims of gender violence on the island of Lanzarote, total resources go from 831,335.33 euros in 2109, to 915,421.20 euros in 2021.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, points out that the increase in these funds "responds to the imperative need to stop a scourge such as gender violence, which has not ceased to exist and manifest itself in different forms and areas of society."

In this regard, Dolores Corujo points out the need for public administrations to collaborate and put all their efforts into combating this problem, either from the root, through education, or by providing economic resources that allow the development of programs and activities focused on eradicating gender violence.

The addendum for the modification of this agreement was approved this Monday and establishes that the Canarian Institute of Equality will contribute 468,863.58 euros, while the Island Council will invest 446,556.62 euros of its own funds.
