Bruno Medina, the now member of Yaiza Siempre (YAS) for the elections of May 28, does not appear on the list delivered by the political formation to the Electoral Board. "There was no harmony, the project did not work as I thought and I decided to take a step back," explains the former Ciudadanos member in the southern City Council.
A week ago Medina made the decision to leave the new Yaiza party due to "loss of confidence" and "lack of communication," he told La Voz de Lanzarote this Wednesday. Just the day that the Official Gazette of the Province of Las Palmas has published the list. "It did not give me enough confidence to bet on working on a project like this where they were clearly not counting on me," he confesses.
"The relationship between us started with some problems, I felt like I was being left out and, out of the blue, they tried to leave me aside," Medina explains about his relationship with the political formation. Regarding what happened during the past week and the reason why the relationship was blown up, the former spokesman for Ciudadanos in the municipality explains that "at the end of the week some meetings were scheduled that were postponed or not held." Then Medina had already made the decision to abandon the project. It was this past Saturday when he spoke with the president of the party, Luis Ureta, and told him his decision.
"Obviously I don't need to be in politics and where they don't want me I'm not, basically I lost confidence in the project and that's why I decided to take a step back, not participate or speak," adds Medina.
"Since last Wednesday there began to be some distancing" with the head of the YAS list, Jonatan Lemes. As of today, after communicating his departure from the project, Medina has not spoken with Lemes. "I told him what I thought at the time, how I thought things had to be done, but making it clear that I respected the ways in which they wanted to do it, that I was there to add, to participate in the project, but obviously if the relationship changes from one moment to another and there is no communication."
In addition, Medina rules out continuing in politics: "I have no intention of being in active politics and I am not on any electoral list, so no, we will not be."
About how the party's list for the elections was formed: "No information was given on how the list was going to be and we have seen it through the media nothing more. I was in the general groups of the party and there were only questions without answers there." In addition, Medina denounces the lack of a meeting to present the draft with a proposal for the order of the candidacies. "As far as I know, that meeting was never held, obviously I am no longer in those groups and if it has arrived later I do not know."
Regarding why Yaiza Siempre initiated that displacement towards Bruno Medina, the former affiliate proposes that the political formation be the one to answer it. "If they have any reason why the situation arose, but I tell you as I tell you, I have not spoken with Jonathan, I do not know anything else today." In this sense, Medina affirms that he does not want to create "any conflict or damage the project. Let them do it as they believe, but they will not count on me."
