The president of the Popular Party of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Astrid Pérez, believes that Sánchez's government has already consumed the response time to resolve "the serious problem that has generated the migratory drama in the Canary Islands and that has generated the impossibility of the regional Executive to care for the more than 5,300 unaccompanied foreign minors under the tutelage of the Autonomous Community".

"Pedro Sánchez has made it very clear that the drama of irregular immigration in the islands is not part of his work agenda, and not only because he lacks his own immigration policy, but because while in the Canary Islands we have been totally overwhelmed with the arrival of boats and canoes, his government has been unable to request more resources from the European Union or the reinforcement of FRONTEX to control borders," denounces the leader of the PP, who criticizes "the boycott" that she assures has been carried out by both Sánchez and Torres to Europe's aid to the Canary Islands "for political interest, even if it affects the care of thousands of boys and girls in the islands."

For the popular, Sánchez "has been pulling the leg and laughing at the Canarians for seven years, so the conclusion is very clear, if he does not have a parliamentary majority to reform the Immigration Law he should resign or call elections, because there is no greater consensus than signing the document that the PP has closed with its 14 autonomous communities and the Government of the Canary Islands for the distribution of minors."

Astrid Pérez reiterates that the PP "has maintained its commitment and has put on the table an agreement reached with the regional Executive and the majority of the communities but it is evident, because it shows it every day, that Sánchez prefers blackmail, impositions and closed agreements without light and stenographers."

"It is outrageous that he has been blocking Europe's aid to the Canary Islands in immigration matters and then pretends to wash his image by inviting His Holiness the Pope to come to the islands to learn about a reality that he himself has not wanted to know firsthand since he is President."

Astrid Pérez is very clear that "Sánchez's Government is not the least bit concerned about the limit situation that has been experienced in the Canary Islands for too long" and has no doubt that "the Government has no intention of modifying article 35 of the Immigration Law."
