The Arrecife City Council, through the Department of Urban Planning, has allocated, within the Arrecife Strategic Plan 2023-2025, an amount of 100,000 euros to subsidize individuals and legal entities who own buildings that are included in the municipal catalog, they report.

"It is the first time that the City Council has included a subsidy within the Strategic Plan, with its own funds and for this purpose," they acknowledge from the Consistory.

“With this subsidy, the important thing is that the owner of a listed building does not perceive it only as a burden, but feels that they have the support of the administration for the conservation of that architectural asset that the entire city enjoys,” says Astrid Pérez.

The objectives pursued with the granting of this subsidy are "the conservation of the city's architectural heritage, helping to rehabilitate facades and interiors, and also to enhance its architectural heritage, helping to provide it with conditions of habitability and accessibility for its use," they add.

"Objectives such as the rehabilitation of facades and improving structural conditions, among others"

Therefore, the objectives will include "the rehabilitation of facades; of listed elements (windows, floors, patios, etc.); the improvement of habitability, mobility and structural conditions," they anticipate. All this, provided that the actions "are compatible" with the conditions of protection, which are specified in the building action plan, they affirm.

In addition, it has commissioned the processing of a municipal Heritage catalog to the public company GESPLAN and has created the Municipal Heritage Council, they add.

Finally, they recall that the Architectural Heritage Rehabilitation Awards have been granted to five owners of different properties in the capital of Lanzarote.
