The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, has reported that during the night of this coming Thursday and the early morning of Friday, the re-asphalting works will be carried out on the streets Valls de la Torre, Almirante Boado Endeiza and a section of Avenida Mancomunidad in the surroundings of El Reducto.
De León Machín, who is directly responsible for the Department of Public Works, requests the collaboration of residents, hoteliers, merchants and drivers while these modernization works are carried out on the city's roads.
The works are part of the final stretch of the works in the surroundings of El Reducto beach where the capital's City Council is carrying out, since the end of August last year, the renovation of the urban image of a section of Avenida Fred Olsen that will be transformed into a pedestrian area, starting in June.
Yonathan de León has detailed that this work, which will give a great change to the area of the city's maritime front, is integrated into the new urban image that he projects for the modernization of the capital of Lanzarote. Arrecife commemorates this year the 225th anniversary of its foundation as a municipality.
The Department of Public Works reminds citizens that these works will be carried out at night due to the location in this area of the city of streets where the La Destila and Antonio Zerolo schools, and the IES Las Salinas, have access.
Yonathan de León has emphasized that with the re-asphalting works in these streets, the City Council will culminate two important works that converge next to the roundabout where the Barlovento sculpture, by César Manrique, is exhibited: The semi-pedestrianization of a section of Canalejas street, and the pedestrianization of Avenida Fred Olsen, between the Guenia and Valls de la Torre roads.
For the execution of these works, charged to the contracting companies of the described last works, operators of the construction companies will install informative fences where parking and circulation will be prohibited on these streets until the re-asphalting and marking of road signs are completed.
The City Council especially requests the transportation and merchandise delivery sector to foresee the logistics for Friday morning, which could be affected in this area with a large presence of hotel establishments and four of the hotels in the capital of Lanzarote.
