The Arrecife City Council has premiered the new night lighting system next to the sports courts of Argana Alta. The joint work of the Departments of Public Works and Sports has made possible the installation of autonomous solar streetlights in the sports area of the CEO of Argana. Until now, these facilities open to sports clubs and players in the neighborhood, lacked lighting.
The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the councilor of Sports, Eli Merino, have attended its commissioning. The new system, automated, captures solar energy through different photovoltaic panels located in each pole. The energy of the sun is accumulated in its internal systems, and through remote control, allows its hourly reprogramming.
Yonathan de León stressed that "it has been now, and not in those decades ago, when clubs and athletes can use this sports area at night, as a result of a collaboration agreement with the CEO of Argana." To access in the afternoon and evening, athletes have direct access to the sports area, from the main entrance to the CEO.
The mayor and the councilor of Sports, Eli Merino, have recalled that the reopening of the Argana Sports Hall is scheduled for this spring, which has been closed for 12 years so far. It has been in this mandate, with the Municipal Government group when the works of adaptation and legalization have been put in place, which will allow the reopening of this great sports venue, the largest on the island of Lanzarote.
From the City Council of Arrecife, within the new commitment to alternative energies, it has been announced that the roof of the Argana Alta Pavilion will host a large photovoltaic plant through the Lanzarote Energy Community, of which the City Council of Arrecife is a part, recently approved in plenary agreement.
