The plenary of the Arrecife City Council, meeting this Thursday in an extraordinary session, has approved an initiative of the government group, which will allow families with low economic resources residing in the municipality to have municipal aid for the repair or restoration of old houses.
With the approval in the plenary, the ordinances are partially modified to allow the Arrecife City Council to make the public call and grant these direct financial aid, aimed at allowing vulnerable families to adapt their homes.
The mayor of Arrecife, Ástrid Pérez, has highlighted that this plenary agreement is intended to allow these aids to be processed quickly from now on, which families can request throughout the year, as they are not subject to the call period.
The Arrecife City Council already has a budget item for this social initiative, which will be regulated from the Housing Area, planned in the current municipal budgets approved in the summer.
After this agreement, it must be submitted to the mandatory procedure of public display of this specific and partial modification of the municipal ordinances. At the end, the City Council will have a free way to grant these aids. In this regard, the mayor highlighted that "it has been five years since the Arrecife City Council financially supported the rehabilitation of homes".
According to the City Council, the houses that benefit from these aids from the Arrecife City Council must be more than 10 years old.
