Armando Santana has been elected this Saturday, Island Coordinator of Nueva Canarias in Lanzarote during the II Island Assembly. He has obtained 86% of the votes of the delegates from all over the island. In addition, Santana has also been supported as president of the Local Executive of Arrecife with 100% of the delegates from the capital of Lanzarote.
The event held on the afternoon of this September 9 at the Municipal Archive of Arrecife, was attended by the national president of Nueva Canarias Román Rodriguez, the deputy of Congress, Pedro Quevedo, the parliamentarian, Luis Campos, the senator María José López and the president of Nueva Canarias in Fuerteventura, Alejandro Jorge.
Santana's has been the only candidacy presented to lead the party in Lanzarote. They highlight from the party "the important effort that had been experienced on the island, in the last two years with the incorporation of more than 407 members".
In his speech, Santana asked those present for "an ironic applause to all those who dedicate themselves to spreading to the four winds that Nueva Canarias does not exist in Lanzarote". "That Saturday with a room full, 200 locations covered is the proof of the implementation that this party is having on an island so difficult to do politics".
A large part of his speech has focused on thanking the members who have remained faithful in good times and bad. In the presentation of the event, it has been used to present the new political project, "a nationalist party of the left committed to plurality and respect for the environment", they pointed out.
Román Rodríguez: "Our councilor has betrayed his party"
The president of Nueva Canarias, Román Rodríguez, in his speech has apologized to the population for the action of "indiscipline" of Juan Manuel Sosa and has insisted that the NC councilor in the Cabildo, "has betrayed" his party for having agreed with CC without the approval of the leadership. And as other members of Nueva Canarias have shown, Rodríguez has been convinced that Juan Manuel Sosa's decision will lead to his expulsion from the party once the disciplinary proceedings that will be opened against him are resolved according to the statutes of his party.
During his speech, Román Rodríguez encouraged the representatives of the parties who attended as guests to the Assembly, "to take advantage of the opportunity they had to remove Pedro San Ginés from the Cabildo of Lanzarote".

The former president of the nationalist formation in Lanzarote until last year, has received the recognition of the new leadership of the party with the appointment of honorary president of Nueva Canarias. He has also been given a plaque of recognition to the relatives of Hugo Expósito, a member of Nueva Canarias who died a few months ago.
