The spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ariagona González, has reproached Oswaldo Betancort for his "unacceptable sectarianism and his pathological inability to reach agreements."

"Oswaldo fills his mouth defending an island pact but he is unable to approve even one of the proposals of the Socialist Group," said the councilor, indicating that "it is inconceivable that not a single one of the ten proposals presented by the PSOE received the support of the Government Group."

For González, it is inexplicable that Betancort and his group voted against formalizing the agreement with Red Eléctrica de España to bury the new power line as it passes through Los Ajaches, despite having committed to it.

"We have the feeling that after sixteen months of paralysis, Oswaldo Betancort has lost control of the issue and, fearing that he will not reach the agreement in time, he is trying to divert attention to the Yaiza City Council, which has no responsibility for the expropriations," warned the councilor.

But the most surprising thing, in the opinion of the socialist spokesperson, has been Betancort's refusal to support the opposition to the fuel surcharge that Clavijo intends to impose, under the name of forest cent:

"Once again, we see the fear that Oswaldo Betancort feels when it comes to confronting Clavijo. He already accepted and defended that Lanzarote should not benefit from the fuel subsidy and we greatly fear that he will end up accepting this new plundering of the people of Lanzarote."

To conclude, González stressed that the PSOE supported several of the proposals of the Government Group and the rest of the opposition groups, considering them beneficial for Lanzarote:

"The PSOE is committed to a constructive opposition, others talk about dialogue but, when it comes to the truth, they are authentic sectarians."
