Antonio Morales, councilor of the Canarian Coalition in Tinajo, resigns

The councilor of the Canarian Coalition in the City Council of Tinajo, Antonio Morales, presented his resignation as councilor last Friday, alleging personal reasons. According to Antonio Morales to La Voz, his resignation was due "exclusively" to family reasons and not to differences within his party or the Consistory.

The former president of the Canarian Coalition Youth has been very close to the mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, with whom he has governed for two legislatures. Thus, Morales was the current second deputy mayor of the City Council of Tinajo and had occupied important areas in this Consistory.

This resignation has greatly surprised the members of the Canarian Coalition, since Morales was the man who was probably going to replace Jesús Machín at the head of the mayor's office, when the president of CC in Lanzarote left this position.

However, according to Antonio Morales himself, "about a year ago" he already told his colleagues that he was going to resign. "They convinced me and I decided to continue, but now I understand that the best thing is to step aside, due to my personal and family situation," he said.

Reconsider your decision

The mayor of Tinajo, Jesús Machín, has asked Antonio Morales to take some time to "think and reconsider his resignation and reconsider it." And it is that, according to the mayor, with Morales "there is no problem", but the councilor has a good relationship with both the mayor and the rest of the members of the Municipal Corporation.

"He is a very important person for Tinajo and very important for the Canarian Coalition, because he is a party reference," said the mayor, who maintains that he is "loyal and trustworthy". The mayor has assured that Antonio Morales will always have him.
