The company Promontoria Coliseum Real Estate S.L.U. presented on October 7th to the Teguise City Council a project for the demolition of one of the illegal skeletons of Costa Teguise, located on plot 242-B. The news has been revealed by the PSOE, which questions that the mayor has only started to act on this issue after being warned by the Courts.
"It's embarrassing to think that Oswaldo Betancort had to be threatened with fines to fulfill his obligation after years of lies and half-truths, as we must remember when he said that he was not urging the demolition to avoid causing expenses to the City Council, or when he declared that everything was a formal problem that would be solved with the General Plan approved in 2014. Now, when the TSJC warns him of financial penalties, is when the company presents the demolition project," says the socialist spokesperson in Teguise, Marcos Bergaz.
According to the councilor, "the company has been forced to initiate the demolition procedures due to the warnings to the mayor from the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC), due to the unbearable passivity of Oswaldo Betancort." In this regard, he recalls that the TSJC had warned him of the imposition of fines "against his personal assets, as the judgments affecting the skeletons of Costa Teguise have been final for more than a decade."
For Bergaz, "Oswaldo Betancort has been on the side of the company and against his municipality, which he has punished by having to endure that monument to urban illegality for years." "Only when his pocket is at risk does he worry about complying with the sentence and restoring legality," he concludes.
Finally, the socialist spokesperson believes that this situation "has been reached due to the concerted inactivity of a mayor, Oswaldo Betancort, and a president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, who gave preference to the interests of the offenders while neglecting the general interest."
