The Socialist Party (PSOE) of Teguise transfers this Wednesday in a press release the urgent need to clean up the access roads to the town of Costa Teguise, after verifying again today, the state of the main entrances and exits to this town of more than 9000 residents and thousands of tourists.

For the socialists it is unacceptable that the accesses to the largest population center of the municipality have an appearance that leaves so much to be desired, "even more so when we are in the middle of the high season and summer in a tourist-residential town that is very important for Teguise and Lanzarote", says Marcos Bergaz, socialist spokesman.

"Thus, we sadly observe a picture that is not up to the Costa Teguise that we knew and long for: unrecognizable green areas, median in a deplorable state, deterioration of fences belonging to urban skeletons, absence of optimal maintenance, in short, a photo and reality that neither residents nor tourists deserve," laments Bergaz.

From the socialist ranks they point to the main gateway to Costa Teguise, the one that comes from Arrecife and leads to Avenida de Las Palmeras, but also to the access road along Avenida del Golf, "which still shows the wounds of the floods of last April 12 and a more than deficient maintenance in its aesthetic and conservation state".

"Of course, -says the spokesman- the excellence in conservation and maintenance that should constitute the presentation card of this town and the group of towns, from Guatiza to Famara, from La Graciosa to Tahíche, is far away, even more so with the enormous potential and resources that the municipality has. However, we are witnessing a worrying decline in the care, attention and maintenance required".

"For that reason, and aware of the need for an urgent renovation, -continues the socialist leader- we have presented initiatives as a majority group for the improvement of the accesses to 'Costa', but also for the beautification of all the towns or the preferential processing of the new garden service, without luck in all cases, given the vote against the government formed by the Canarian Coalition (CC), Popular Party (PP) and the former councilor of VOX".

The socialists hope that this public claim will serve, at least, "to adopt shock measures that immediately correct the state of the main accesses to Costa Teguise", as they consider that there are plenty of reasons to act: "we are in high season, they constitute the gateways to a town with more than 9000 residents, it welcomes thousands of tourists who decide to spend their holidays in our municipality and, of course, it is notorious that its state is more than improvable", concludes Marcos Bergaz.
