The weather is not giving Lanzarote a break. The orange alert, which was decreed this Monday, is leaving strong winds, as well as precipitation and risk of storms. This morning, Haría recorded the strongest gust of wind on the entire island, which was 66.7 kilometers per hour.
The forecasts for the next few hours are not good at all. A storm will enter Lanzarote from Fuerteventura and leave heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, according to the territorial delegate of Aemet in the Canary Islands, Irene Sanz.
In addition, very strong gusts of wind are expected, which could reach 70 kilometers per hour throughout the island. This morning, quite high data has already been recorded and Lanzarote is on yellow alert due to the strong air. Thus, the wind has blown at the Guacimeta airport at 6:20 a.m. with a force of 43.3 kilometers per hour, in Tinajo at the same time a gust of 54 kilometers per hour was recorded, while in La Graciosa, the maximum was a little lower, 34 kilometers per hour.
Orange alert for rainfall
Aemet has also decreed an orange alert for rainfall in one hour, as 30 liters of water per square meter are expected to fall. In addition, it has established a yellow warning for accumulated rainfall, as 60 liters of water per square meter are expected to fall in 12 hours.
The sea is also going to be very rough. Thus, the port of Los Mármoles has already registered problems, and three ferries have not been able to dock. Irene Sanz assures that the waves will begin to weaken in the afternoon and tonight the sea will be calm again.
For this Wednesday, the storm is expected to move and the rainfall will be increasingly weaker. From Tuesday to Wednesday morning it will begin to rain less heavily and towards noon, the people of Lanzarote will be able to leave their umbrellas at home.
