Due to the execution of the road widening works in Tahíche, this Tuesday, August 3, traffic will be channeled between the Tahiche roundabout and the César Manrique Foundation roundabout through the recently executed section, which is part of the project. The diversion, which according to the Government of the Canary Islands "offers more comfort and safety to users", will be carried out in both directions.

The U-turns in this section will continue to be carried out, as until now, through the Fundación roundabout, the Tahiche roundabout and the connection with the LZ-3.

Direct accesses from the new section to the adjacent homes and streets have been eliminated, so they must be accessed through the new roads built for this purpose from the new roundabout, located between the Fundación roundabout and the end of the work, the Tahiche roundabout.

A section of 3.6 kilometers

The widening of the Arrecife -Tahiche road is included in the Collaboration Agreement on Roads signed between the Government of the Canary Islands and the Ministry of Development. The works were awarded to the UTE formed by Dragados and Horinsa for a budget of 16,433,738 euros.

In essence, the project consists of widening the road in a 3.6-kilometer-long section that supports a very high traffic density for the conditions it currently meets. The section on which work is being carried out runs through an eminently urban environment in which the adjoining buildings leave just enough space for the road to pass at different points.

The trunk of the new road will coincide with the current one, with slight fluctuations to adapt to the contour conditions. Between the beginning and the end of the trunk there will be four roundabouts, two of them newly built.

The new road will avoid direct entrances and exits to the road from the adjacent properties and roads through auxiliary roads, which will allow residents to reach the trunk of the road through the roundabouts.

The section of the Arrecife - Tahiche road will be composed of two roads seven meters wide each, a three-meter median, two-meter outer shoulders, one-meter inner shoulders, and five-meter lateral sidewalks.
