The young timplista from Majorera, Víctor Estárico, presented at the Timple House-Museum in Teguise the musical work inspired by the stay of the Basque writer Miguel de Unamuno on the island of Fuerteventura. The event took place on Friday night at 9:00 p.m. For this concert, Víctor Estárico was accompanied on guitar by Israel Espino and tenor Besay Pérez as a solo voice.
With this musical, Estárico wanted to remember the writer's passage through the neighboring island of Majorera, where he remained for four months in 1924. The audience enjoyed a concert with a lot of quality, in which, once again, the young timplista demonstrated that he has very good musical foundations. His talent, in fact, is endorsed by teachers such as Domingo Rodríguez "El Colorao" or Benito Cabrera.
For this musical, Victor Estárico created a varied repertoire including everything from a French waltz, to emotional Canarian folías and the traditional lullaby, without forgetting, of course, the isa parrandera. A projection of images of Unamuno's stay in Fuerteventura was also added to the musical, and texts were incorporated with some of the sonnets that the Basque writer dedicated to the island of Majorera.
In addition to the excellent coupling of voices, music and images, this work, which the timplista prepared coinciding with the 90th anniversary of Miguel de Unamuno's passage through Fuerteventura, becomes a valuable historical document that future generations will be able to consult through music, one more section of the history of the Canary Islands.
When the time came to say goodbye, the enthusiastic and standing audience asked the musicians to continue playing, and Estárico, Espino and Pérez complied with the request with several encores. Before they left the stage, the councilor of the Teguise City Council, Agustín Méndez, gave them the poster announcing the concert as a souvenir.
