This Wednesday at 12 noon, the last Trasmediterránea ship that connects the island with Las Palmas has departed. From now on, the line is suspended, at least temporarily, until a new ship is incorporated, since according to the company the current one, "Ciudad de Málaga", has been withdrawn because it is not "operational".
"A faster type of ship is needed", argue from the shipping companyTransmediterránea, which has not been able to specify when the line will be restarted.
The "Ciudad de Málaga" connected Arrecife with the capital island on Wednesdays and Fridays, while on Thursdays and Saturdays at 13.00 it departed from Puerto del Rosario to Las Palmas. Therefore, the connection with the island of Majorera has also been canceled.
The boat transported both passengers and merchandise. According to the company, the unloading of merchandise from the ship that arrives at the Port of Los Mármoles from Cádiz will be maintained, but this only has one weekly route, on Mondays.
From the Cabildo, the Minister of Transport, Ramón Bermúdez, assures that he has not been informed of this cancellation, although he has excused the lack of knowledge because he is outside the island.
