One person has died and another 14 have been injured, three of them seriously, when a tourist bus plunged down an embankment on a road in La Gomera, according to the first report provided by 112 Canarias. Thus, the Government of the Canary Islands has declared a state of alert on the island.

According to sources from the Cabildo de La Gomera informed EFE, all those affected are foreign tourists and two helicopters are working at the scene, one from the Canarian Emergency Service and another from the Emergency and Rescue Group, as well as several medicalized ambulances that have already made several transfers to the island's hospital, where it will be assessed if they require being transferred to Tenerife.

The departure from the road and overturning of this private bus has occurred at the height of the El Revolcadero Environmental Center and, as can be observed in a photograph disseminated by 112, the bus would have gone off on a curve and would have plunged several meters down an embankment.

The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, has published on his X account that he remains attentive to what happened and has sent his support to the victims and their families.

The Cabildo of La Gomera has established traffic regulation measures on the island road GM-2 after the serious accident registered in the vicinity of the environmental complex of El Revolcadero to facilitate the work of the rescue teams and has requested drivers an immediate reduction in speed during their approach to the emergency site.

Approximately one year ago, on May 13, 2025, a 73-year-old woman died when a bus overturned on the GM-2 road, in San Sebastián de La Gomera, near the site of this accident.

In that incident, eleven other people were injured, of varying severity.
