Tinajo celebrated last Saturday the XI Folk Festival, organized by the Musical and Cultural Association "Timbayba". On the occasion of the San Roque festivities, this event was scheduled, which began at 9:30 p.m. in the social hall of the aforementioned municipality with the performance of the "Raíces" band, made up of a dozen young musicians from various groups in Lanzarote.

"Raíces" showed a very varied repertoire and managed to elicit the first applause from the public. Subsequently, the folk group "Igara" performed, which came from the municipality of Arona, in Tenerife, to make all of Tinajo vibrate. This group was formed in 1984 and has extensive experience, having participated in various festivals, pilgrimages and television programs, as well as in the recording of an album.

"Igara", which has managed to bring the chichacherro folklore to each and every one of the islands of the Archipelago, performed several traditional pieces from Tenerife and also from La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro.

The third performance was given by the hosts and organizers, that is, "Timbayba", who arrived very animated and performed songs and dances from Lanzarote, as well as from Fuerteventura. To give the dancers a break, they also sang two musical themes and ended their show with an isa parrandera, where they were accompanied by two soloists, one from "Raíces" and another from "Igara".

In this way, with the union of the three groups, the XI edition of the festival came to an end, which in 2010 will celebrate the silver anniversary of the "Timbayba" family.
