About 6,000 people have come to La Graciosa during the celebration of its festivities in honor of the Virgen del Carmen. An event that has a great acceptance in this marine area where many have a great devotion to the patron saint of fishermen. For a few days, Caleta del Sebo becomes a meeting point between its inhabitants and tourists who do not want to miss the celebration.

The fervor for the patron saint has its two culminating moments in the maritime and land processions. The first took place on the 16th with the departure of the image from the church to the pier. There it is boarded and makes a journey towards El Parión and La Francesa to return to port. During the tour it is accompanied by almost the entire fishing fleet of La Graciosa and even some boats from Lanzarote. The following day the land processional parade was held. This year its route was through the southern area in a procession attended by a large number of people. When the Virgin arrives at the temple, the Italian doll is burned and a fireworks show is offered with which the celebration is ended.

Other acts

While religious acts are important in this celebration, there are others that are also closely followed by the residents and visitors of the Island. This is the case of the election of the most handsome on the Island. The night began with the election of the children's queen, which was for María Bocardo, and the children's mister whose winner was José Carlos Arrecho. Next, the election of the youth queen was held, which was Nerea Hernández, and the youth mister, which was received by Bruno Rodríguez. The evening ended with the election of Miss La Graciosa, which was Tania Hernández, and Mister La Graciosa, which fell to Luis Guadalupe.

All the participants paraded in the typical costumes of the Island, in swimwear and in evening dress. In this way, the winners in the children's and youth categories took away gifts such as caps or bracelets. For their part, Miss and Mister La Graciosa will enjoy a weekend at the Hotel Beatriz in Lanzarote. There were many people who came to enjoy this show in which everyone had a good time.
