The Professional Civil Guard Officers Union wanted to highlight "the serious damage" suffered by the "image and dignity" of Captain Germán García García, head of the Seprona Section of Las Palmas, due to the accusations made against him by the sergeant of the Seprona Detachment in Lanzarote, Gloria Moreno.
This group has sent a statement, after the Central Military Court dismissed an appeal by Gloria Moreno against the dismissal of the lawsuit she filed against two of her superiors, Colonel Ricardo Arranz and Captain Germán García, and a Civil Guard agent, Miguel Ángel Padial, whom she accused of a series of acts constituting alleged abuse of authority.
Specifically, as the Professional Civil Guard Officers Union recalls, it was in 2019 when Gloria Moreno denounced the head of the Seprona Section of Las Palmas "for allegedly exercising, together with the colonel of the Command and a civil guard of the Seprona Detachment in Lanzarote, an activity of harassment and permanent harassment against the plaintiff, through the fabrication of numerous disciplinary files."
"All this as retaliation, according to the sergeant, for the service provided on the islet of Alegranza in 2015, for an illegal hunting of shearwaters that culminated in a conviction by the Criminal Court 1 of Arrecife of ten people" for a crime against wildlife, he adds.
Now, after confirming the dismissal of Moreno's lawsuit, the Civil Guard Officers Union highlights that the resolution of the Central Military Court recognizes as proven that the service provided by Seprona on the islet of Alegranza "was planned jointly by the captain, head of section, and the sergeant herself", as well as that "the various sanctioning files against the sergeant were opened by order of the competent authorities, that is, the Colonel Chief of Command, the General Chief of the Canary Islands Zone and by the Director of the Civil Guard, within their powers, as a result of the presentation of citizen complaints" with facts that had nothing to do with that intervention.
Likewise, from the Professional Civil Guard Officers Union, they emphasize that with the judicial resolution "the prior conspiracy of the three accused to harm the sergeant is ruled out, whether for the service provided in Alegranza or for some other reason."
Finally, they consider it proven that the sergeant's accusations were based "on personal assessments not corroborated or proven in the judicial proceedings, such as the alleged discomfort generated in her superiors by the Alegranza service or the communication of an alleged informer in the Lanzarote Detachment."
"The dignity and professional image of Captain Germán García, who has been in command of the Seprona Section of Las Palmas since 2004, characterized by his
professionalism and discretion, has suffered serious damage given that the accusations made against him without any basis have been published in various media and social networks", conclude from the Professional Civil Guard Officers Union.
