They denounce that the Papagayo campsite is still not open despite the promises of the Cabildo

"Is the campsite going to open, yes or no? That is the question that the Cultural and Recreational Association of Campers and Caravanners of Lanzarote Playa de Papagayo asks the president of the Cabildo, after the institution announced that the camping area in the south of the island would open "at the beginning of July."

"We have been told via WhatsApp that it was going to open on one date, then on another and it is still not clear. How are we going to tell our people that the camping area is going to open on such a date if we are not sure," they question from the group, from where they ask María Dolores Corujo to speak out about it.

Likewise, they complain about not having been received by the president of the Cabildo. "During the presidency of Pedro San Ginés in the Cabildo, from the first day we went to talk to him, he attended to us and listened to us in several meetings we had in his office. He attended several assemblies that we held with our members without putting any obstacles. With the current president we have asked to meet with her we don't know how many times and until now she has not received us," they say.

"We have never issued any statement publicly without being sure of what the Cabildo tells us so as not to confuse our people, nor do we want to be in a constant war of statements, which does not lead us anywhere. Only when the president listens to us, we will speak," the campers add.

This association highlights that it has been fighting in defense of camping since 1996. "After so much insistence, we managed to create the Papagayo camping area, and since then we have strived to ensure that it opens with the approval of the Cabildo," he points out.
