The workers of the Tourist Centers have made an emotional tribute to César Manrique this Wednesday, the day on which 21 years have passed since his death. As usual every year, the employees have approached the cemetery of Haría, where the mortal remains of the artist rest, to remember him.
A group of students from CEIP San Juan de Haría were in charge of opening the event, reciting a text and performing a song with lyrics dedicated to the artist. Later, the Lanzarote historian Mario Ferrer recalled the figure of Manrique and asked that he not be forgotten.
Benito Cabrera, the guitarist Tomás Fariña and the singer Chago Melián also participated in this event, putting the finishing touch to the tribute by performing an emotional folía, composed for this occasion by the timplista from Lanzarote.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, the vice president Joaquín Caraballo, the Minister of Tourism, Carmen Steinert, the CEO of the Tourist Centers, José Juan Lorenzo, as well as various authorities from the island, family, friends and followers of the artist also attended this tribute.
