The Timple House Museum, in Teguise, hosted from October 31 to November 2 a course on the timple and the Venezuelan cuatro, two musical instruments. The courses were taught by Domingo Rodríguez "El Colorao" and Javier Castro. About twenty students signed up for these days, where they could learn how related both instruments are.
After completing the course, the attendees received a diploma, which was presented to them by the Councilor for Culture, Olivia Duque. The commissioner of the house-museum, Benito Cabrera, and the professors Domingo Rodríguez "El Colorao" and Javier Castro also attended the event.
As a final touch, the courtyard of the house-museum hosted a masterful concert. First, "El Colorao" performed on the timple, accompanied by the palmero guitarist Juan Carlos Pérez. "El Colorao" also invited his great friend and folklorist Sergio Cabrera, who received a great ovation from the public after his show.
The second part of the concert was enlivened by the group Ensamble Dos Orillas, composed of Devis Colmenares, José Moreno, Gabriel González and Vicky López and directed by the Venezuelan-Canarian Javier Castro. They performed a varied repertoire of songs from both shores, which united the Canary Islands and Venezuela.
The masters "El Colorao" and Javier Castro returned to the stage to perform two musical themes, which once again united the timple with the Venezuelan cuatro. The public said goodbye to them standing and wrapped them in a strong applause.
