The mayor of Teguise, José Dimas Martín, presided over the event, which was attended by representatives of Rotary Clubs from the rest of the archipelago, the peninsula and even the Nordic countries.
After the delivery of the flag of the new Club, María Teresa González Reverte, current governor of district 2200 of Rotary Club, was in charge of imposing the President's necklace on Pedro Botella, as well as the insignia with the rotary wheel to each and every one of the members of the new Club. Pedro Gopar, who will be the mace bearer of the Rotary Club Lanzarote? Costa Teguise, and José Alemán, secretary, also received their distinctions from the governor.
The new president of the Club thanked all the attendees for their presence, some one hundred and fifty people, and assured that he will work with enthusiasm and dedication so that "the work of Rotary Club reaches every corner of the Island".
José Dimas Martín congratulated himself on the choice of the tourist center as the headquarters of the Club, while encouraging its members to work to "make life easier for others", one of the main objectives of Rotary Club.
For his part, José Alemán, one of the promoters of the Rotary Club Lanzarote? Costa Teguise, assured that the celebration was very significant for him. "One of my great dreams has come true. We have worked very intensely and with great perseverance so that today, Lanzarote, has a new Rotary Club, something that should fill us all with pride," he indicated.
The Rotary Club of Lanzarote? Costa Teguise is based at the Gran Hotel Meliá Salinas. Its members meet on Thursdays, at eight in the afternoon, and the duration of the mandates is one year.
