The Three Wise Men from the East knocked on the door of the municipality of Yaiza this Saturday in the Timanfaya National Park, where the mayor, Óscar Noda, and the Councilor for Festivities, Javier Camacho, were waiting for them with honors to symbolically hand over the keys to the municipality before the surprise tour they undertook this morning through southern towns, another of the novelties of the visit of their Majesties in 2019 with respect to previous years, and the already traditional afternoon parades in the towns of Yaiza and Playa Blanca.

The presence of Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar in Timanfaya caused a stir among residents and tourists who came across the most recognizable characters of the season. Óscar Noda thanked their Majesties for the outpouring of affection and joy they spread throughout the world on a weekend full of emotions and illusions.

As in the municipality of Yaiza, the figure of the camel is the protagonist in the parades of many localities inside and outside the Canary Islands, thus, the image of their Majesties in Timanfaya with the Mountains of Fire as a backdrop evoked that iconographic image of the Kings riding camels through desert landscapes. The Kings were guided in Timanfaya by Francisco Mesa, the youngest camel driver registered on the Island and a symbol of the generational change in the sector.

Óscar Noda took the opportunity to remember that "the town of Uga is home to the most important camel farm in Europe with more than 400 specimens, therefore, my most sincere recognition to generations and generations of ranchers in my municipality who have managed to maintain the breed of this noble animal for decades thanks to the sustainable activity they carry out in Timanfaya, taking visitors on camel rides through one of our natural jewels." Three of the camels from Uga parked their usual route in the Mountains of Fire for a day to transport the Three Wise Men in the municipal area of Yaiza.
