The First Conference on Ethnographic Heritage in Education was a success

"Successful." That is the assessment that the organization makes of the celebration of the "First Conference on ethnographic heritage in education", held at the Agricultural Museum "El Patio" (Tiagua) last Wednesday. This initiative was organized by the Order of the Canarian Puppy in Lanzarote and the Island Directorate of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands.

These conferences, in which two speakers, Pedro M. Grimón González and Rafael C. Gómez León, renowned specialists in the Canary Islands in this matter, participated, were aimed at all the directors of the educational centers on the island, more than 60 in total. Their objective was to emphasize the importance of ethnography as a complement to the regulated educational programs that are developed in educational centers.

Likewise, this initiative sought to reinforce the "Project for the dissemination of traditional agricultural tasks" that has been developed in the Agricultural Museum "El Patio" since the last academic year and that contributes to disseminate knowledge of traditional agricultural tasks among the school population between the ages of 11 and 13, included in the 1st year of ESO. The General Directorate of Educational Promotion of the Government of the Canary Islands and the Department of Education and Culture of the Cabildo of Lanzarote participate in this project, which is being very well received, with the sponsorship of various entities, such as La Caja de Canarias.
