The four beaches of Puerto del Carmen, Playa Grande, Playa de Los Pocillos, Playa de Matagorda and Playa Chica, received this Thursday a notification from the Spanish Institute for Tourist Quality (ICTE) confirming that they have obtained the safe beach certificate: Safe Tourism Certified. This certificate has been received after passing the audit carried out by the entity TÜV RHEINLAND.
According to the City Council, "Safe Tourism is the only certificate against covid-19 endorsed by the Ministry of Health and, with this accreditation, Puerto del Carmen guarantees the correct implementation of hygiene-sanitary protocols on its coastline to protect users and its workers."
In addition, the Council emphasizes that the beaches of Tías "are the first in the Canary Islands to receive this certificate", which values the quality of the coastline of the municipality of Tías as a safe environment also against the coronavirus. The distinctive flags have already been sent to the City Council of Tías and will soon be displayed on its beaches.
Increase confidence in residents and visitors
“The council has worked intensively to improve access and conditions on our beaches. We want to increase confidence in our residents and visitors so that they can see, with the collaboration of all, that we have a safe tourist destination,” says the Councilor for Beaches of Tías, Mame Fernández.
During the audit, it is stated that the certifier highlighted the training and involvement of the staff working on the beaches to achieve this objective and the protocols developed by the external consultant Ismael Lozano to ensure the success of the implementation.
With this certificate, the City Council of Tías hopes to benefit not only the users of the coastline, but also all the establishments in the municipality, "by contributing to the image of safe tourism, betting on safety as the main asset on the beaches, ensuring the protection of tourists and residents."
"The 'Safe Tourism certificate transmits the concept of certified safe tourism, helping to gradually regain the confidence of tourists and gives visibility to the municipality through a reliable and independent brand endorsed by the Ministry of Health," concludes the City Council.
