The La Tiñosa Fishing Club will organize the 15th High Seas Fishing Tournament from October 20 to 22, in collaboration with the Tías City Council, the Canary Islands Government, the Lanzarote Council and the Canary Islands Sailing and Casting Federation. In this championship, a tribute will be paid to the Public Works employee of the Tías City Council, Pedro Robayna, who disappeared on October 23 of last year and was a regular participant in previous editions. A year after his disappearance, nothing is known about Robayna's whereabouts.

Registrations can be made until 8:30 p.m. this Wednesday.
At 8:30 p.m. on Thursday the 20th, a meeting of the organizing committee will be held in the port area of Puerto del Carmen with the skippers of the participating boats, in which the rules of the tournament will be explained, suggestions will be collected and the final approval of the aforementioned rules will take place. After it is finished, the Los Gorfines band will perform.
The competition will take place from 9:00 a.m. on Friday the 21st and Saturday the 22nd, with the departure being established by the marks, between the port's breakwater and the buoy-beacon, both for the boats that are in Puerto del Carmen and for those that come from neighboring ports.
The prize, a car
The star prize, a car, will be reserved for the boat that is capable of capturing a large blue marlin weighing at least 300 kilos. The capture or mark and release of white marlin, spearfish, wahoo, tuna or dorado will also score.
In addition, there will be a prize for billfish that are marked and released, related to the sports modality of marking and releasing, in order, according to the organization, "to exercise responsible and conservationist fishing of the species of blue marlin, white marlin, shortbill spearfish and longbill spearfish". This prize will be scored towards obtaining the championship of the Tournament, in compliance with the regulations of the International Game Fish Association (IGFA).
Line withdrawals are established for both days at 5:00 p.m. Subsequently, the boats will return to port to proceed with the weighing of the catches and the reception of photo reels of the marked and released species. The tournament, in whose development the compliance with the regulations of the Vice-Ministry of Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands will always be present, will conclude on Saturday, October 22 with the meeting of the organizing committee and weighing judge.
Later, at 9:30 p.m., the dinner and awards ceremony will take place in the tent installed on the port's breakwater with the performance of the El Golpito band. It will be at this event, which will be attended by the mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández, and the Councilor for Sports of the municipality, Yolanda García, when a tribute will be paid to Pedro Robayna.
