Mercedes Saboya and Félix López left this Wednesday very early from Madrid to Lanzarote to spend a week of vacation. They are retired and Imserso travelers, like many other visitors to the island. But this marriage is very special because one of them is traveler number 12,000 of Imserso trips, who arrives in Lanzarote.
Therefore, they have been received in a particular way upon their arrival at the Guacimeta airport. The Councilor of the Tourism Board, Miguel Ángel Leal, received them at Terminal 1 of the airport, with a bouquet of flowers and various promotional material about Lanzarote. They have been chatting for a few minutes, before Mercedes and Félix, somewhat surprised but smiling, left for Playa Blanca, where they will spend seven days of vacation at the Hotel Sun Park. During these days they will enjoy excursions to different points of the island territory, visiting the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of the Cabildo.
Councilor Miguel Ángel Leal has shown his satisfaction because "they are really here to get to know us, enjoy us and encourage locals and strangers to visit Lanzarote" and acknowledged that Imserso trips are "a great injection of hope for the future of the sector". For next October it is planned to sign a new agreement with the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services, with which the arrival of thousands of other tourists is expected in the autumn-winter season 2006.
