The Department of Education, managed by Lourdes Cabrera, has paid tribute to the teachers of the Educational Centers of the municipality of Teguise who have retired since 2007.

In an emotional event that took place in the Timple House Museum, seven men and women received recognition from the Educational Community and the Institution.

Lourdes Socas, Gerardo Cancio, Juan Lorenzo Peña, Diego Arrebola, Francisco Martín, Carmen Rosa Villalba and Margarita Robayna dedicated more than 20 years to teaching, a work that they have developed with "responsibility, courage, patience and perseverance"; highlighted the head of the Education Area, who also, accompanied by the councilors, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, Eugenio Robayna and Antonio Callero, has presented a small stone sculpture made by the artist Rigoberto Camacho.

In her speech, Lourdes Cabrera, highlighted the great work that teachers do; "they give balance to society. Every day, in the classrooms, providing the necessary knowledge so that students have the freedom that only knowledge gives.

This is a small recognition because in reality there is no sculpture, no words, no medals that reward the work done by these men and women who complement the work done by our parents"; highlighted the mayor.
