The Culture Department of the Teguise City Council closed the course of the municipality's folklore schools, in an event that took place at the CSC Taiga in Guatiza last Sunday, with the celebration of the XI Festival of Young Soloists. In total, there are 11 schools distributed throughout the municipality and tutored by 6 teachers.
The XI Festival of Young Soloists featured the participation of several students, who took the stage for the first time to perform some of the songs they have been developing during the course. They were accompanied by the parranda formed by the teachers themselves, reinforced by some musician friends.
As is customary at this festival, soloists who have been participating in different groups and radio and television programs for years are invited each year. This year we had the presence of Menchu Abreut, Matías Betancort and Nieves Nieves, who performed an isa parrandera to which the public responded with a prolonged round of applause.
The audience was full of family and friends of the participants, as well as representatives of the Teguise City Council government group such as the mayor, Oswaldo Betancort, and the Councilor for Culture, Olivia Duque.
