More than 1,500 people came last Friday to El Varadero, in Puerto del Carmen, to attend the II Isla de Lanzarote Song Festival, organized by the Social and Cultural Collective Friends of José Vélez. In this edition, the winner of the contest was Saray Ramírez from Majorera, who thanked the festival organization for the great work they have done. "The festival has given me an experience I will never forget," said Saray.

In this edition, the festival featured great guest artists such as José Luis Uribarri, Roberto Campos, director of the Benidorm festival, the singer Goyo Tavio, La Década Prodigiosa and Guillermo Arbelo, composer and director of the international song festival Islas Canarias.

The only conejero classified was Oliver Morales, a native of Tinajo, who won third prize, endowed with 300 euros. Mara, from the island of Gran Canaria, was the one who won second place, which had an economic endowment of 600 euros. For its part, the first prize amounted to 1,200 euros.

The other winners

Apart from the winners of the festival, Roberto Campos, the director of the Benidorm festival, also presented him with the highest trophy, the Golden Mermaid, from that festival to Ismael Montero, the organizer of the Isla de Lanzarote song festival, and announced that they will have him as a member of the jury for the next edition of the contest.

For its part, the Collective of Friends of José Vélez presented the Cabildo with the Gold badge, which was collected by Francisca Toledo, Councilor for Youth and Sports. The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, also received this badge and announced that he would like the third edition of this festival to be held again in his municipality.
