Rosana: I'm absolutely thrilled to be home, about to shoot songs to tear down hopelessness

"I am absolutely thrilled to be home, about to start shooting songs and I hope to knock down hopelessness. Thank you to each and every one of the people who have made it possible for us to be here today." This is how the press conference of the Lanzarote singer Rosana began, who this Friday will offer a concert in Puerto del Carmen, in Yugoslavia Square, and not in Las Naciones, as was initially reported.

At the Cicar-Overcame facilities, sponsor of the concert, Rosana was happy to be back playing on her island. At the concert, she assured that she will give the best of herself. "In the presentation of 'Buenos Días Mundo', we are mainly focused on knocking down hopelessness. One of the most beautiful things that people tell me when they approach the end of each concert is: 'I leave wanting to eat the world'", the conejera has related.

In addition, she has promised her fans that she will not only play songs from her latest album, but that she will review all the works she has done so far. "I will play songs from 1996, because there are songs that cannot be missed in a concert," she said. Thus, she has given as an example "A fuego lento" or "Pa' ti no estoy".

The singer has pointed out that "she doesn't know" why she has not performed in Lanzarote for six years. "During these years, I have wondered why it has taken me so long to come home to sing. Until now it has depended on the help of town halls and councils. The people who decided during this time who came to Lanzarote, well, they chose others. I have not wanted to get into controversies, but I have really wanted to and I have missed coming back in these six years," she said. "I hope from now on to come many more times."

Even Rubén Sigut, manager of the company organizing the concert, has pointed out that "two years ago" a Rosana concert was offered on the island, but Alejandro Sanz was preferred, whose performance cost "a fortune". "In El Hierro, Rosana goes for free. Not here, because they don't give you any support," he said.

Separate a concert from a demonstration

The singer has also spoken about the oil explorations that could affect the waters of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura but, above all, she wanted to make it clear that, "honestly", she separates "a lot" a concert from a demonstration". "They are different things. I have a concert here and Lanzarote has a problem which is oil. These two things come together in time, and that's it. I'm not going to put these two things together ever. I said in a video that I'm going to go in white, because I'm not in favor of oil. But I would be incapable of telling people how they have to go to a concert. In no way".

In this sense, she has pointed out that neither she nor anyone in her environment has spoken with the Cabildo neither "for yes nor for no", in reference to the fact that people go dressed in white, as the first institution requested. "With the Cabildo, we have not spoken, nor have we come into contact to talk about this story," the singer has clarified.

The press conference was also attended by the president of the Cabildo de El Hierro, Alpidio Armas, the mayor of the Tías City Council, José Francisco Hernández, and representatives of the Cicar-Cabrera Medina group. Precisely, Rubén Sigut wanted to thank this business group "for the support provided for Rosana's concerts in the Canary Islands". "I want to thank not only the economic support, but also all the affection that has been very important for us," he said. "I would have loved not to charge a penny to see Rosana, but I would need the Cabildo or the City Council to put up 100,000 euros, as has been done with other concerts on this island," Sigut said.

For his part, the mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández, has pointed out that the Council will contribute 5 percent of the total budget of the concert, which will basically focus on security, for which a private company, Local Police and Civil Guard will be used.

The president of the Cabildo de El Hierro, Alpidio Armas, has praised the "commitment" of the conejera singer "to society". "She was committed to Lorca and now to El Hierro. I am here to, on behalf of all the herreños, thank Rosana and the people of Lanzarote for their support," he indicated, while announcing that the money raised in the concert that the conejera will give on this island will be used for "an employment plan, which will be called the Rosana employment plan".
