The Minister of Presidency and Justice of the Government of the Canary Islands, José Miguel Ruano, has estimated the main effects produced during Sunday night to Monday in the Islands as "minor damages and few incidents", especially in the westernmost islands, where rain and wind made an appearance, although not generally throughout most of the Archipelago. During this Monday, the Executive expects to lower the 'maximum alert' declaration to 'alert' depending on the reports issued by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), although this modification will not take place until noon.
In a press conference held at the Tenerife headquarters of the Emergency Coordination Center (Cecoes) 1-1-2, the Minister explained that La Palma, El Hierro and the north of Tenerife have been the areas most affected by the adverse weather phenomenon, which is now moving to the easternmost islands, where it will leave especially heavy rains during the afternoon of this Monday.
So far, rainfall has reached an average of 93 liters per square meter in the Parador (Tenerife) and 86 liters in El Pinar (El Hierro).
For now, both maritime services and airports are active, although the official stated that it will be during the morning of this Monday when the consequences of the storm in this regard can be known. Incidents are still expected in flights from El Hierro and La Palma due to wind and it will be necessary to wait for the next few hours to see the consequences of this adverse weather situation at Tenerife North airport.
Among the minor damages produced are fallen trees, signs and problems on the roads, given that about twenty of them have had to be cut off in the western province, 13 in La Palma, four in El Hierro and three in Tenerife.
Ruano specified that all emergency services have been active throughout the night, although their mobilization has not been necessary.
