Nursing students in the third year of Nursing in Lanzarote have demonstrated in front of the headquarters of the Faculty of Nursing of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) in Tahíche. This Wednesday, October 25 at 11:30 in the morning, all the students have gathered to demand "the lack of teachers" that exists in relation to various subjects of the degree.
As one of their students has confirmed to La Voz, they recognize that "we are in an unfavorable situation." Given that, there is a lack of teaching in one of their subjects in the third year: "we have not had any teachers for the subject of 'Ethics and Legislation' since September 11" that the course began, he pointed out.
"It is not a leave as highlighted in other media," the student assures the newspaper. The reason was already known with "much anticipation," given that the previous professor who taught the classes has "retired," he adds.

After the public statements in different media by those responsible, in which "they have promised us a solution, but those promises have not been fulfilled," since "we are still in the same situation," they assure. They complain that they have "less than a week for this subject to be taught since we begin our clinical practices."
In relation to the hiring, since they do not have the job boards of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote "separated," the teachers "refuse to come to the island." The main reasons are: the "lack of time" to join the work and "prepare the classes" and the workplace.
"Our center cannot make a direct hiring, everything has to be through Las Palmas," the students have been told. The reason why "they cannot reproach anything here in Lanzarote," they add.
With the statement and the demonstration, the students want those responsible to "give them a solution to the limit situation" they are experiencing and seek help to "find someone interested in teaching the subject," they reveal.
Some classes with much relevance, decisive in some cases to be able to finish their degree. "We depend on it for scholarships or even to finish the degree this year," the students complain.
